This article is dedicated not only to the difficult issue of adequately conveying the historical-cultural contexts of translations of Georgian hagiographic monuments, but also to the etymology of a particular word in the monument under consideration and what meaning the translator prefers. Despite the fact that hagiographic texts are fulfilled with clichés and Russian language itself seems to be well processed on parts of orthodox-theological concepts, still serious defects can be detected in within translated texts on Russian. In our opinion this is caused by several factors:
- Consciously, made mistake.
- Inappropriate scientific level or subject approach.
- Context understanding problem on native old Georgian language.
- Translators incompetence.
Perhaps nobody has paid attention so far to one passage from Niko Mars discovered, published and translated to Russian text “Life of Grigol Xandzteli” but this presented part of Russian translation Xandzta monastery typicon part in particular, casts doubt on the Tao Klarjeti monasteries chalcedonic orientation problem, as on such serious matter of monastery mode of life like, no chalcedonic reglamentation referring fasting.
